We are looking for a Senior Support Worker
POSITION: Senior Support Worker
LOCATION: Recovery Centre
REPORTS TO: Recovery Centre Manager/ Team Leader who will provide supervision and encourage a
professional staff development programme.
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week to include both day and night shifts.
SALARY: £25,545.00 – £27,885.00 pro rata. (£13.10- £14.30 hourly)
JOB SUMMARY
1. JOB ROLE
To provide active support as part of the Recovery Centre Team to enable and motivate service users to
achieve their recovery goals and move on from the Recovery Centre in a planned way to their own
home in the community or to alternative accommodation relevant to their needs
To support the team in working with service users to develop their skills in taking control of their lives,
supporting residents as they engage in their personal mental health recovery journeys.
To embrace and promote the ethos of recovery and person-centred working, maintaining a warm,
supportive, respectful, and caring environment whilst working to agreed support plans and recovery
documentation.
To ensure that staff, service user and carer participation is maximised, and support meaningful input
to Care Inspectorate self-assessments, service user and stakeholder surveys and support a coproduction approach where this supports our continuous improvement framework.
Support induction and provide appropriate mentoring for the team of support workers, particularly
those who have recently joined the service or are experiencing challenges in the work.
To support the process of reviews and support planning for each service user within the required
timeframe.
To promote the ongoing development of the residents group meeting.
To support the programme of meaningful activity, supporting service users to achieve their objectives
through relevant activities and opportunities.
To work with nurse colleagues and support shift co-ordination.
Support individual medication management within the Recovery Centre adhering to organisational
medicines management policy and protocols.

2. STANDARDS OF PRACTICE
The post holder will be personally responsible for registering with the SSSC, for maintaining their
registration, and complying with all requirements relating to registration set out by SSSC, including any
training requirements. The post holder has a personal responsibility as a social care worker to adhere
to SSSC codes of practice, and these can be seen at: www.sssc.uk.com.
The post holder must also take personal responsibility for being familiar with and implementing the
quality areas outlined by the Care Inspectorate, and the relevant National Care Standards that are
based on: Dignity, Privacy, Choice, Safety, Realising Potential, and Equality and Diversity.
As a Senior Worker within Centred, the post holder must also represent and uphold the responsibilities
placed on an employer by the SSSC and take responsibility for being fully aware of what this involves.
PERSON SPECIFICATION 1. Qualifications
SVQ qualified to meet the SSSC registration requirements.
PDA qualification in Medication Administration or be willing to obtain this.
2. Work Experience and Management
Direct experience in the delivery of mental health services in line with SSSC, Care Inspectorate and
other legal requirements
Sound knowledge of current care philosophies, and the recovery model in practice in mental health
Have a sound knowledge of work-related practices to reduce the risks of COVID-19 transmission
Familiarity with computerised management information systems.
3. Skills Abilities Knowledge
Ability to manage and delegate work.
Effective administrative skills.
Skilled in report writing.
Basic IT skills to include ability to deal with reports, email, intranet, and internet Knowledge of health
and safety at work regulations.
Knowledge of, and commitment to, valuing diversity, equal opportunities, and related practices to
support this.
4. Circumstances
Able to undertake day and night shifts, weekend, and evening work.
5. Commitment
Commitment to undertake relevant training courses and attend meetings, including outside the
Highland area as appropriate.

Willingness to stay overnight occasionally in other locations for courses/meetings if required
Willingness to be adaptable to ensure that service needs are met including at short notice on
occasions.
