Responsible to: Shop Supervisor
Centred is a progressive charitable company based in the Highlands that supports people through mental ill health toward mental well-being. Our services are based in Caithness, Easter Ross, Inverness, and Lochaber
In this role you will provide support to the Centred team through providing a high level of customer care in our Invergordon charity shop.
Specific Responsibilities may include:
- To assist and serve customers, providing a service of the highest standard.
- To assist with processing stock, including sorting, steaming, pricing and hanging of donated items.
- To help to ensure that the shop premises are clean and tidy at all times and that stock is replenished as other stock is sold.
- To assist the Shop Supervisor in ensuring that all administrative and financial procedures are followed including banking, cash register reconciliation, reports and volunteer records.
- To work with others in the shop in a supportive and helpful manner, helping to support and train any new volunteers including people who are supported by Centred.
- To promote public understanding of the work Centred delivers and the importance of raising funds through the shop.
- To participate and support any other fundraising activities or events that are planned to take place in the shop or as part of the work of the shop.
The volunteer will be expected to undertake any other duties as appropriate within their competency level and general level of responsibility.
This role outline is not exhaustive and may need to be amended in the light of changing circumstances and after discussion with the volunteer.
Person Specification
- An understanding and interest in the needs of people with mental health issues.
- A friendly, professional and welcoming manner.
- An ability to demonstrate patience, sensitivity and reliability.
- An open minded approach to individuals, avoiding judgement and stereotyping.
- Ability to listen to others and explain things clearly.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Excellent telephone manner.
- Previous experience of volunteering or working with the public would be desirable
- A valid driving license (not essential)
