Centred staff work from our centres in Inverness, Invergordon, Fort William and Wick, currently helping more than 300 people who are living in their own homes with varying levels of support for their mental ill-health. Our community-based services provide more than 1,500 hours of support each week in and around Inverness, Easter Ross, Lochaber And Caithness.
Social Support
We know that people suffering from mental ill-health can struggle with lots of day-to-day tasks. Our trained staff can offer support for people to do things like maintaining a tenancy, managing their money, finding and accessing specialist support in their community as well as building and strengthening social networks and finding employment.
Our services arrange guided walks and outings for service users. We regularly arrange to get together to help with socialisation skills. Our service user annual general meetings, service user barbeques and parties are very well attended and enjoyed by both service users and support workers alike.
Our therapeutic horticultural and forestry work projects work has a hugely positive impact on mental health recovery improving people’s confidence and helping them to find work and forge relationships in society.
We engage in the lives of service users helping them to avoid homelessness and preventing suicide and suicidal thoughts. Through our work and working with other agencies we can help people through addictions creating a foundation for active healthy lives.
If you feel you, or someone you know, could benefit from this service, you’ll need a referral from your Community Mental Health Service. Your doctor will be able to give you all the information you need.
Care At Home
Some people need extra help in their own homes so they’re able to keep their independence and dignity while feeling safe and cared for.
One of our team of trained carers (or personal assistants) can pop in daily to visit people at home at agreed times of the day. The carers build trusted relationships and offer a friendly face as well as help with a wide range of daily tasks like:
- Getting in and out of bed
- Bathing
- Getting dressed
- Going to the toilet
- Eating and drinking
- Managing prescribed medication
If you or someone you know could benefit from one of our carers visiting your home, start by speaking to your doctor who will be able to refer you for an assessment or you can contact us directly at one of our local offices for a chat about the services we provide.
Dementia Care
People living with dementia can have happy and fulfilling lives in their own homes with their families or loved ones. But this can take its toll on the day-to-day carers at home, so we offer additional support to help them cope and give them a well-earned break.
We understand that living with dementia can be lonely, as social networks can disappear as dementia symptoms progress, and so having someone you know and trust visit regularly can offer a lifeline of support and help break the isolation.
As with all the support services we offer, Centred’s dementia care centres around the person. We offer flexible personal care and housing support that’s tailored to individual needs and that can adapt over time as their needs change. At the heart of what we do is make sure everyone stays healthy, safe and happy at home.
If you’re interested in learning more about how you can access our dementia care, get in touch with one of our offices for a chat.
