Centred Employee Retires After 24 Years of Service

We were honoured to take time out to present farewell gifts and our upmost thank yous to Maggie, one of our longest serving employees here at Centred.

Maggie joined us 24 years ago and has become the heart and soul of the Inverness Team, working as a Support Worker in our Inverness-shire community.

Maggie accidentally came into her job through working in care for the council and really enjoyed her experience in the care sector. Maggie then went on to study in the evenings to gain the qualifications required for support work. Following a 6-month placement at Centred’s Recovery Centre, Maggie secured a permanent role with our Inverness Support Service and has been an integral part of the team to this day.

Now in her 70’s Maggie has taken the decision to retire, and we all wish her the very best in her next chapter.

    Maggie commented:

“The first person I ever had the privilege of delivering support to with Centred, has also been the last person I supported during my last shift. When I told him I was retiring, he just smiled, it was hard to say goodbye after working with him for so long.

“I’ve supported lots of kind-hearted and incredible people through my time with Centred and it has been one of the most inspiring parts of the job.

“Going into retirement I plan to redecorate my house myself and look after my plants and garden and enjoy some time to myself.”

Jennifer Scott, Inverness Support Service Manager commented:

“Having worked for Centred myself for nearly 13 years, I’ve only had the privilege of working alongside Maggie for the past three and a half, since transferring to the Inverness service from Easter Ross and what a privilege it has been.

“From the moment I joined the team, Maggie made me feel genuinely welcome. With 24 years of service under her belt, she brought a remarkable depth of knowledge and experience, which she has always been incredibly generous in sharing with the rest of the team.

“What truly sets Maggie apart, though, is the incredible difference she has made to the lives of the people we support. Her compassion, determination, patience, and unwavering dedication have had a lasting impact, helping individuals grow in confidence and independence. Just as she has shaped and strengthened our team, she has also enriched the lives of those we support in ways that will continue long after she has left.

“Maggie has a gift for lifting spirits, she brings laughter, warmth, a caring nature and a spark of fun to even the busiest of days. Her quick wit and signature sarcasm have kept us all on our toes, in the best possible way and have been a constant source of joy within the team.

“She will be sorely missed by each and every one of us, not just for what she does, but for who she is.”

Maggie was personally presented with Orkney jewellery (from where Maggie is from) and a bouquet of flowers by our CEO David Brookfield, together with a range of gifts from Maggie’s Inverness Support Team.

Our Centred Support Team operates throughout Inverness-shire providing community services for adults of all ages and backgrounds, who require help and support. Centred also offers services in Lochaber, Easter Ross and Caithness.
